2009 All Ready? Where Did 2008 Go?

Happy New Year to one and all. I can't belive 2008 is gone already! 2088 was a wonderful year for our family. The year started quiet enough, but the last half of the year was a whirlwind of activity. In June we welcomed Kallie Elizabeth to our family. I got to spend a whole week helping her Mom and Dad out and spending time with her big sister Brooklyn. That was a special time for me. From August to December was even more of a whirlwind. I spent those 5 months getiting ready to be an exhibitor at 2 craft shows and 2 Women's Conferences as well as completing custom orders for Christmas.

Needless to say 2008 was a wonderful but exhausting year, so I have spent this week resting. I have also put my poor neglected house back in shape. It now looks more like the house I spent all summer decorating when we were having it built 3 years ago.

I am posting a few pictures that say more about 2008 than I can.

I pray that you and yours have a wonderful and prosperous 2009.

Callaway Gardens and Mistletoe Market

My sweet friend Traci Alexander held her first Women's Retreat at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain GA a couple of weeks ago. It was a wonderful weekend. She graciously asked me to be a merchant at the retreat. Not only was I honored to be there for her "debut" but I got to meet some new friends.

Oh, I also joined the White Hankie Club at this retreat. I think we might have had just a little too much fun with that one.

This past weekend I was a merchant at the Mistletoe Market in Marietta. This is an annual event hosted by the Cobb County Junior Service League. It was alot of work, but I had a blast. It was fun playing shop girl with my daughter. I also loved having my husband all to myself for a few days. It would appear that the economy woes have hit Georgia as sales were a little slow this year at the Market. Oh well, this to shall pass. Oh, they also had these amazingly decorated Christmas trees on display. I have always wanted my tree to look like one of these, but alas it never does. I hold out hope every year though.

Now I just need to get everything resorted and organized before my next show which is only a couple of weeks away. I did learn one lesson at the Market-other than I should have gone with a bigger booth. Never let your husband help you pack up afterward. For some reason nothing is in it's proper place. Can you say throw and go?!

WeekEnd Fun and Work

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We spent some time playing and attended River Fest. This is a craft show that the Cherokee County Service League puts on each September. The funds are used to provide for needy children in the county. The show is held outside and was a wonderful way to spend a late summer/early fall morning. Some of the local businesses had designed scarecrows and they lined the walkway leading into the show. These were really fun and creative.

I am getting ready to do my first "big" craft show in 2 weeks and we spent a part of the weekend getting everything organized and making sure it was all priced. Whew, what a job! I feel much better knowing how much of everything I have and that it is ready to go. Thanks to my husband and his support we are ready to go (at least on this end). I spent the rest of the weekend finishing up bandana dresses for the show. I added a little twist to a couple of them. I will be adding them to the website soon.

Aren't they the cutest!!! I really like the way they turned out.

Can You Say Gas Shortage?

Gas is a hot commdity in our neighborhood right now. Thanks to Hurrican Ike and the EPA regulations for our great city gas has been in limited supply around here. This is what it looked like at one of our local gas stations on Tuesday evening. Notice the price. Not to mention the fact that they are blocking traffic.
I took a picture of what the line looked like last night at the station across the street, but it was too dark. Trust me when I say the line was long and blocking a major road. The price had also gone up. It has gotten a little crazy. When you ram the vehicle of the guy delivering the Krispy Kreme doughnuts because you think he is cutting in line! Pleeze people it is only gas!!!!!!!!!
