Memory Mondays

I am a little behind in posting, so I will just let the pictures and the memories speak for themselves.

Our daughter and her family went to Disney for Fall break.  This is how we travelled to the airport.

Queen B loved riding in the front seat.

Princess K had her special seat as well.

Papa was the driver for the day.

Checking in at the airport.

Our first dirt track race.  We had a lot of fun.

Shirts for Disney

The schools in our area were on Fall break a couple of weeks ago and my daughter and her family went to Disney World.  Of course, they were there with half of the state of Georgia, but they had a great time.  One of the things she requested was shirts for her girls to wear while there.  Well, she showed up with 10 t-shirts-5 for each girl as well as specific instructions of what she wanted on them.  To her credit she gave us a month to get them done, however it was not to be.  Those shirts were of the devil!  Everytime we tried to work on one something would happen.  The design wouldn't digitize right, the applique didn't work, you name it and it happened.  Finally we just gave up and I sent them back to her with the warning that they were possessed.  Of course she didn't believe me.  Then she tried ironing on designs and that didn't even work.  The first one she ironed on backwards, then the color was washed out on the others.  Needless to say they wore them anyway.

We did manage to get 2 of the shirts to turn out.  It was my first try at applique on the embroidery machine and they turned out really cute.  They were a big hit with Queen B and Princess K.

Even after all the stress and craziness of trying to do those stinkin' shirts they girls didn't even care that they weren't perfect.  They were after all in the land of Mickey!

Can I Just Tell You....

How excited I was when one of my customers told me the story of how she had referred her friend to me to make University of Tennesse bandanna dresses for her daughters.  Let me start with the background.

When I started this little business of mine I was only making purses and baby items.  Every sale I had made was strictly to friends or friends of my daughters.  Then a friend of mine suggested I try renting a booth at one our local antique marts and selling my items there.  So I did.  That is where Shelia discovered the bandanna dresses.  She mentioned them to her friend Tori (who graduated from UT) and she ordered 2 dresses.  That was 2 years ago.

Sad to say that due to the economy I no longer have my booth at the antique mart.  However I do an outdoor market once a month here in our community.  In August Shelia just happened to be at the market and found my booth.  She bought this really cute market basket .  Aren't the colors so much fun?
Anyway she told me she had been looking for me for months, because she used to buy from my booth all the time.  She finally talked to my friend Nikki that works at the antique mart and she told her I was at the market every month.  During our conversation she told me the story of how I had made the bandanna dresses for her friend a couple of years ago.  She said that her friend loved them and that a picture of one the girls had ended up on the cover of the program they publish for Alumni Day.  Imagine how excited and surprised I was that one of my dresses was on the cover of a publication.

I asked Shelia if she would ask Tori to send me the pictures.  She did and even gave me permission to use them here.  So here are Tori's adorable girls all dressed and ready to cheer on their Tennesse Volunteers.

A Birthday Wish You Can Help Grant

I saw this birthday wish http://www.infarrantlycreative.net/on a new blog I just discovered. I thought it would be fun to try and make her wish come true; so in keeping with the age old tradition of granting birthday wishes let's see if we can help her friend win.  Now follow the link, do as the instructions say and cast your vote for Jim.  And while you are at it stop by and wish Beckie a happy birthday.

Did Ali Pick The Right One?

While I have been Team Chris from the very beginning of this season's The Bachlorette Ali was very obiviously Team Roberto.   Her reaction when he got out of the limo on the first night was a dead give away.  Did she pick the right guy for her?  Only time will tell.

While they certainly looked like they were "in love" last night on the After the Final Rose show, my guess is that physical attraction once again won out over the guy who wants a true relationship and allow love to grow over time. I am afraid that we will be seeing the "It's Over with Ali and Roberto" headlines when they get back to the real world and the flame of romance has not only flickered but gone completely out.

I will give Ali this much, she certainly seems to be a woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it. Too make the decision to break up with Chris on the day of their final date was a testament to that.  I felt bad for him, but the way he handled the whole situation shows what a classy guy he really is.  Trust me Chris there is a girl out there for you.  One who will appreciate the fact that you are willing to go into a relationship in a very realistic way.

I do hope it all works out for Ali and Roberto, but can someone please tell me why these couples have to move in together from the very second the ring goes on the finger?   Girls, don't move in he will marry you quicker!

Oh, and one last thought.  This is a show that spent big dollars traveling all over the world this season (Iceland, Portugual, Tahaiti, Bora, Bora) knowing that Roberto was the last guy standing couldn't they have at least found a suit that fit him properly.  I thought for sure he was going to bust right out of it when he knelt to propose.

I'm curious how many of you think Ali and Roberto will actually make it down the aisle?
